Sectors of Art Basel

You’ll witness the masterpieces on over 200 galleries at Art Basel. There are various sector in the fair representing unique works:

• Nova

  • This sector represents art pieces which you’ve never seen before curated by one to three artists during the period of last three years.

• Positions

  • This sector will show the artworks of new artists from around the world. If you are an artists yourself, this gallery is perfect to show your single project to the audience.

• Edition

  • Want to see the publications like never before? Then head over to the Edition sector of Art Basel where you’ll see the artwork curated with the collaboration of several publishers and artists.

• Meridians

  • Mexican city-based art critic and curator Magali Arriola has designed the Meridians gallery section to exhibit monumental artworks. Head over to this section if you wish to see non-traditional artwork which is never seen before.

• Kabinett

  • This section is dedicated to the artwork of an artist chosen by the critics. It may represent solo project or a thematic group artwork.

• Survery

  • For artworks representing different cultures and their history, head over to the Survey gallery. This gallery may exhibit a solo project of group work.

• Magazines

  • There is no shortage of art pieces at the fair. If you are into printing business and in Miami Beach, visit the Magazines section of Art Basel to witness the unique and rare printing pieces from renowned and new editors and publishers.

• Conversations

  • Last but not the least is a section dedicated to artists who wish to have dialogues about global art work. You’ll also see panels and discussions including architects, curators, collectors and many others.

Opening Hours for Public

This year, Art Basel will run from 5th to 8th December 2019 at Miami Beach Convention Center. Art Basel will also be open on 2nd and 3rd December but on these days, only the invited ones can visit the fair. You can check the floor plan of Art Basel here to have an idea about the galleries.

Following are the timings of Art Basel happening in December 2019:

Thursday, December 5, 2019, 3pm to 8pm

Friday, December 6, 2019, 12 noon to 8pm

Saturday, December 7, 2019, 12 noon to 8pm

Sunday, December 8, 2019, 12 noon to 6pm

Getting tickets for Art Basel

You can purchase the day tickets for only $65 per person. Students and senior citizens can get the ticket for $45. If you wish to attend all the four days, you can buy a discounted ticket of $145.

You can buy the tickets online from Art Basel’s website or in person at the box office of the Miami Beach Convention Center on the event day; 5th December 2019.

Visitors with Disabilities

At Art Basel, visitors with disabilities will be facilitated with complimentary manual wheelchairs and scooters as required. These can be picked at the information desks on the event day and are available only on first.

Visitors with Kids

Art Basel is not only for the artists, its for people of all ages. If you are visiting Art Basel with your kids, there are plenty of things to do for them. You can leave your kids from 4 to 12 years of age at the free kindergarten and playroom at Art Basel while you enjoy the show. Art Basel’s team offers a number of creative activities to the kids along with story telling.
