Best Time to Visit St Barts: Seasons, Weather and Events

The best time to visit St Barts for dry, sunny weather is usually mid December to April. That is high season, so beaches and restaurants are at their busiest. The shoulder months on either side bring quieter beaches, and rates are often lower.

The island stays warm all year, so the real trade off is sun and crowds against the hurricane months. Once you have your dates, browse our St Barts villa rentals by size and area. The sections below walk through each season and each month, then cover booking.

St Barts Seasons Explained

Gustavia marina, St Barts
High season fills the marina from December to April.

The island has two main weather seasons. The official tourism office describes a dry, milder season from December to May and a hot, humid season from June to November. Temperatures change only a few degrees across the year.

The tourism office puts typical winter temperatures around 81°F (27°C). Summer usually runs from 86°F to 90°F (30°C to 32°C), with the sea up to about 84°F (29°C). Rain falls in every month, but totals stay modest outside the fall.

High season (mid December to April)

This is the classic window. Days are typically sunny, with highs in the low to mid 80s °F. February and March usually see the least rain of the year. Holiday weeks fill first, and the harbor is busy with yachts and regattas.

High season also carries much of the event calendar. January opens with a music festival and March has the Bucket Regatta. Carnival usually falls in February. If you want quiet days, avoid the weeks around those dates.

Shoulder season (May, and late November to mid December)

May is usually still dry and sunny, and it gets a little warmer. Late November and early December come just before the holiday rush. Both windows tend to feel calmer on the beaches and in restaurants.

The shoulder months suit guests who want high season weather with more open dates. May also brings food and theater festivals, plus a half marathon. In November, the Gourmet Festival and Art Week give the island a lively feel before the holidays.

Low season (June to August)

Summer brings typical highs near 88°F (31°C) and more humidity. Rain picks up from July, with about 12 rainy days a month. The island is quieter, and some guests like the slower pace and warm sea.

Summer is also when local festivals take over. July has Bastille Day and neighborhood fêtes, and August ends with St Barts National Day. These are community events, so they give a different view of island life.

Hurricane season (June to November)

The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, according to NOAA’s National Hurricane Center. Most activity occurs between mid August and mid October. Storms are not a given in any year, but travel insurance and a flexible plan make sense in those months.

Before you book a late summer or fall trip, ask about cancellation terms. Watch the forecast in the week before you fly. Our team can talk you through the options for your dates.
