Lurin Villa Rentals in St Barts
Lurin sits high on the hills above Gustavia, a quiet residential neighbourhood of steep lanes and gardens. Below it, on one side, lies the harbour; on the other, the road winds down to the south-coast beach at Gouverneur. A Lurin villa rental puts you a few minutes from town without living in it, and the largest villa we offer on St Barts is here, with room for 18.

Life in Lurin
Morning above the harbour
From the hill, the first thing to look at is Gustavia. The yachts in the harbour swing on their moorings, the ferry comes in, and the red roofs of town catch the early sun. Breakfast on the terrace takes in the whole of it, from the lighthouse side of the bay out to the open sea.
Down to the south coast
Late in the morning, the narrow road from Lurin drops steeply to Gouverneur, a curve of sand with nothing built behind it. It is around five minutes by car. Grande Saline, wider and just as bare, is a few minutes further east. Neither has shade to speak of, so most people bring their own.
Evening in town
As the beach day ends, Gustavia is the easy choice. The drive down from Lurin is about five minutes, and the town is best on foot once you are there: the harbour front, the narrow streets behind it and the cafés that fill up as the light goes. Parking is tight in high season, so many go early.
Sunset from the hill
Back up the hill, the terraces of Lurin look west over the water. On a clear evening the sun goes down into the sea beyond the harbour mouth, and the islands off Gustavia turn dark against the sky. Then the lights come on along the quay below, and the hill goes quiet.
Nearby neighbourhoods
Distances are straight lines on the map; the drive is longer on the island's winding roads.
When to go
Lurin is busiest when Gustavia is: at Christmas and New Year, and during the regattas in March and April. May and June are warm, easy and noticeably quieter.
Before you go
What guests ask us most before a stay in Lurin.
How far is Lurin from Gustavia?
Lurin is around five minutes from Gustavia by car, straight down the hill. Some villas are a little further up the lanes, so allow up to ten minutes from the higher houses. The roads are short but steep, which is why few guests walk it, especially on the way back up after an evening in town.
Which beaches are closest to Lurin?
Gouverneur is the closest, around five minutes down the hill on the south coast. Grande Saline is a few minutes further east, wide and undeveloped. Both have little or no shade. In the other direction, the beach on the edge of Gustavia is a short drive away, and Saint-Jean is under ten minutes north.
Do we need a car in Lurin?
Yes. St Barts has no public transport, and Lurin is on a hill with steep, narrow roads in every direction. A hire car is how most guests reach town, the beaches and the shops. Many choose a compact car, which is easier to park in Gustavia and on the tight bends above Gouverneur.
Are the roads up to Lurin steep?
Yes, they are. The lanes that climb from Gustavia and wind down to Gouverneur are paved but steep, narrow and full of tight bends, so they are best driven slowly. Confident drivers manage them easily. If anyone in your group dislikes hill roads, ask our team which villas sit lowest on the slope.
Can Lurin take a large group?
Yes. Lurin has our largest villa on St Barts, which sleeps up to 18 guests, along with another house of five bedrooms or more. That makes it one of the few places on the island where a big family or a group of friends can stay under one roof, a few minutes above town.
