Courchevel Chalet Rentals in France
Courchevel climbs one side of the Tarentaise valley, in the Savoie Alps, in steps. Each step's a village, known by a number that's roughly its altitude in metres. We have chalets on two of those steps. Thirteen are up in 1850, where the road gives out. The fourteenth is down at Moriond, 1650, which gets the sun late in the day. Either way, you click into your skis and you're in Les Trois Vallées, with Méribel and Val Thorens over the ridge.

Life in Courchevel
A ladder of villages
Start at the bottom. Le Praz is the lowest, 1300 metres, down in the pine forest by the old 1992 Olympic ski jumps. Above it: Village (1550), then Moriond (1650). Then 1850, which has most of the shops and nearly all the late nights. Lifts link the lot. Lunch in one, ski home to another, and nobody thinks twice about it.
The skiing
You can ski back to the chalet door on groomed runs. High, north-facing slopes, so the snow usually holds up. Never skied? Each village keeps a gentle bit at the bottom for exactly that. Better skiers drift up into the bowls or over towards Méribel. Around 600 kilometres of piste are linked in all. Look up, and you may see a plane dropping onto the altiport above 1850.
Summer on the slopes
Come back in July. The snow's gone, a handful of lifts are running again, and the paths above the villages belong to walkers, trail runners and people on mountain bikes who'd rather not pedal uphill. Paragliders launch off the higher ridges. It's quieter, much quieter, than February, and the light lasts until late. Go in May or October, though, and you'll find a lot of Courchevel shut while it waits for the next season.
Chalet life
After the last lift, the evening starts. Ski boots get dumped in the boot room. Someone lights the fire. And instead of everyone vanishing to their own hotel room, the whole group ends up in one big living room, arguing about which run was steepest. That's what our chalets in 1850 and Moriond are for: room to spread out, one place to gather, and the mountain going dark beyond the glass.

When to go
Skiing starts in early December and finishes in mid-April. Christmas, New Year and the February half-term are packed; January and March are much calmer.

How do we get to Courchevel?
You fly in and then drive. Chambéry is nearest, around 1 hour 30 minutes by road, and Geneva or Lyon are around 2 hours 15 minutes. After Moûtiers the road turns into a long series of hairpins. There's also an altiport above 1850. It's a short, steep strip, so only propeller planes and helicopters use it, and only when the weather allows.
When does the ski season open and close?
This winter, Courchevel's lifts open on 4 December 2026 and shut on 18 April 2027. Moriond is a little different: it opens a day later, on 5 December, and closes a week early, on 11 April. The links into the rest of Les Trois Vallées run from 5 December to 18 April. Snow can move those dates.
Which village should we stay in?
That comes down to what you want from the week. In 1850 you're at the top, with the main lifts outside and more shops and late nights than anywhere else in Courchevel. Moriond, at 1650, is calmer and sunny in the afternoons, which many families like. Thirteen of our chalets are in 1850. One is in Moriond.
Is Courchevel good for beginners and children?
Yes. Every village has easy slopes at the bottom and its own ski school, so children can learn a few minutes from the chalet, and Moriond has some gentle, sunny runs. One tip: instructors get scarce at Christmas, New Year and in February. If you're coming then, sort lessons out well before you travel.
What is there to do in summer?
Quite a lot, from early July to late August, while some of the lifts run. Walking's the big one, on marked paths. Some people bring bikes and let the lifts haul them up; others run, or paraglide off a ridge. Last summer, 2026, the Trois Vallées lifts ran 4 July to 30 August. And you'll have far more room than in winter.
