Méribel Chalet Rentals in France
If you ski hard, you'll probably end up in Méribel sooner or later. It's the middle valley of the Trois Vallées, so you can head off either way. A Scot called Peter Lindsay started the village in the 1930s and wanted it all built in wood and stone. That stuck. Deep roofs, timber balconies, nothing tall and concrete. Mottaret is further up the valley. Our four chalets have six to eight bedrooms and sleep up to 18.

When to go
The Alps own December to April. The Christmas and February school holiday weeks go first, while January and March tend to be quieter.

Is Méribel in the Trois Vallées?
Yes, it's the middle valley of the three, between Courchevel on one side and Val Thorens and Les Menuires on the other. That's the appeal. From Méribel or Mottaret you can ski into either neighbouring valley and back in a day on one lift pass, which covers a very large linked area. Lifts run from the village.
How far is it from Courchevel?
On skis, very close: you ride a lift over the ridge and you're there. By road it's a different story, because you drive down one valley and up the other, and that takes around 45 minutes in good conditions. Nearly everyone makes the trip on skis. In the evening a taxi is the usual answer.
Is Méribel good for families?
We'd say so. There are nursery slopes in the village and at Mottaret, ski schools with lessons for young children, and plenty of gentle blue runs to build confidence on. Off the slopes there's an ice rink and a swimming pool at the sports centre. With little ones, pick a chalet near the lifts. You'll be carrying their skis as well as yours.
