Chalets On The Sunny Side Of Mont Blanc
Megève sits on a sunny plateau in the Haute-Savoie at about 1,100 metres, ringed by gentle wooded peaks with the white mass of Mont Blanc filling the view to the east. It was laid out as a resort in the 1920s by Baronne Noémie de Rothschild, who wanted a French answer to Saint-Moritz, and it kept the manners of that era: a medieval church square, cobbled lanes, sleigh bells in the evening and some of the best restaurants in the Alps, including Emmanuel Renaut’s three star Flocons de Sel.
Our Megève collection is a family of twelve chalets on the slopes above the village, most with six or seven bedrooms, a ski room, a pool or spa and a great room built around the fire. They sit on the Mont d’Arbois and Rochebrune sides, which together with Le Jaillet and the linked villages of Saint-Gervais and Combloux make up the Evasion Mont Blanc area, more than 400 kilometres of piste that suits families and mixed ability groups better than almost anywhere in France.

The third area, north of the village, quieter and linked to Combloux. A good choice for beginners and for afternoon light.

When To Come To Megève
A winter resort first, but the village keeps its restaurants and its golf course open all summer.
December to AprilThe ski season, with the plateau’s altitude helped by snowmaking on the lower runs. Christmas, New Year and the February school holidays book first and cost most; January and March are quieter and often sunnier.
SummerGolf on the Mont d’Arbois course, hiking and cycling on the same slopes, and Mont Blanc in clear air. The chalets are as comfortable in July as in January and considerably easier to book.
Event weeksThe Christmas markets, the New Year fireworks and the spring ski touring races fill the village. If you want a specific chalet for those dates, ask us early.
Questions About Renting A Chalet In Megève
How far is Megève from Geneva?
About 70 kilometres, a little over an hour by car in good conditions. We arrange private transfers from Geneva airport to the chalet door.
Are the chalets ski in, ski out?
Several are on or beside the pistes on the Mont d’Arbois and Rochebrune sides; others are a short drive or shuttle from the lifts. Tell us how important ski access is and we will steer you.
How large are the chalets?
Most have six or seven bedrooms and sleep twelve to fourteen. Chalet Vladimir and Chalet Vanoucha both have seven bedrooms; Le Bivouac has six.
How does booking work?
There is no instant booking. You send a request with your dates and party size, and our team confirms availability and arranges the stay directly with you, with a 0% booking fee.
Is Megève good for mixed ability groups?
Yes. The Evasion Mont Blanc area is wide and mostly gentle, with long blue and red runs, good ski schools and enough off piste and tree skiing to keep strong skiers busy.
