Is Anse des Cayes good for swimming?
Only on calm days, and with care. Much of the shore is coral and rock, there is no lifeguard, and when the swell is up the reef is no place for swimmers. On flat days the water is clear, and the sheltered northern corner is the easiest place to swim or snorkel. Water shoes help.
When is the surf best at Anse des Cayes?
In winter and spring, roughly November to April, when north and north-east swells reach the coast. It is a reef break with rocks and coral close to the surface, best for confident surfers. Even in season the waves are often too weak to surf, so check the forecast rather than counting on surf every day.
How far is Anse des Cayes from Flamands and Gustavia?
Both are close. Flamands is next door along the north coast, a couple of minutes by car, and Gustavia around ten minutes over the hill. Saint-Jean and the airport are also only a few minutes away, which makes Anse des Cayes one of the more central places to stay.
