Pick the dry season, then the bush or the desert, and we will match you with a private lodge in Namibia.
Namibia is all about space. Huge skies, empty roads and a silence so deep you can hear the wind move across the grass.
Imagine an afternoon in August near Etosha. It has not rained for months, and elephants, zebra and springbok are filing toward the waterholes while you watch from the shade. Then imagine night in the NamibRand. There is no moon, no town lights, and the Milky Way stretches from one horizon to the other.
A private lodge lets you enjoy it at your own pace. No set dinner times and no strangers at the next table, just your group and a fire under the stars. Our luxury safari lodges Namibia sleep from 10 to 20 guests, so they suit families and friends travelling together.
We have three lodges in two very different places. Two are near Etosha National Park in the north, and one is in the NamibRand, a private nature reserve in the south known for its desert landscapes and dark skies.

Etosha is one of Africa’s great game parks, built around a vast salt pan. In the dry season animals gather at the permanent waterholes, which makes sightings much easier. The NamibRand is a protected desert reserve with red dunes, open plains and some of the darkest night skies on Earth. Our lodges include Réserve Privée Etosha and Réserve Privée Umhlaba in the NamibRand, each with ten bedrooms.
The dry season, from May to October, is the best time for game viewing in Etosha. June to September is ideal, as the bush thins and animals stay close to water, while July and August are the busiest months. The same months bring clear, dry nights in the NamibRand, which is perfect for stargazing. Early mornings and nights can be cold in winter, so pack warm layers.

June to September is usually best. With little rain, the seasonal water dries up and animals gather at permanent waterholes, so you can often watch elephants, giraffes and lions from one spot. July and August are popular, so book early. The rains from around November bring green landscapes, newborn animals and fewer visitors, though sightings can be more spread out.
It is about the landscape and the sky. The reserve covers huge areas of dunes, gravel plains and mountains, with very few people. At night, it is one of the darkest places on Earth for stargazing. Days are for walks, scenic drives and the quiet.
Yes, and many guests do. Spend a week by the sea in one of our Cape Town villas, then fly north for a few nights at a private lodge. Our team can suggest the best order for your dates and help plan the journey between them.
Tell us your dates, your group and whether you dream of wildlife or desert skies, and we will find your lodge.
