Castellet-en-Luberon Bastide Rentals
Castellet-en-Luberon is one of the smallest villages in the Vaucluse, a few houses on a ridge in the eastern Luberon, among cherry orchards and lavender fields. In July the lavender is at its peak and the whole valley goes purple. The village has its own small lavender distillery. Our bastide has 13 bedrooms and sleeps up to 29. No other house on our Provence list sleeps as many.

When to go
The south has its moment from June to September. July and August are the hottest and busiest; June and September bring the same warm sea with fewer people.

When is lavender season?
The fields around Castellet flower from late June and peak in July, with the harvest usually starting mid-July. The distilling happens during the harvest, in July and August. Cherry blossom comes much earlier, in spring, with the fruit ripe in June. Both are worth planning around.
Which hill villages are close?
Saignon, Buoux, Bonnieux and Lourmarin are all within around 35 minutes, along with Apt, the market town below. Each sits on its own spur of the hills, with a church, a square and a café. Saturday morning in Apt, for the market, is something we'd say not to miss.
Is the bastide good for a large group?
Yes. Thirteen bedrooms, room for up to 29. Families use a house like this for a reunion, friends for a big birthday, sometimes three generations at once. Send us the ages in your group and how you'd like to split the rooms, and we'll work through it with you.
