Casa Sparte is a single-story villa built as a series of low horizontal volumes clad in dark weathered timber boards that run lengthwise across every facade. The roof line barely rises above the surrounding maquis, and the building sits back into its plot rather than announcing itself from the road. A long lap pool runs the full length of the main terrace, which is laid in grey weathered timber boards to match the house. Two round rattan lounge seats sit at one end of the pool, and a row of flat sun beds lines the opposite edge. Inside, the house is white walls and natural materials. The living and dining room has polished concrete floors and a solid teak dining table that seats eight, with white moulded chairs. A floor-to-ceiling canvas painting hangs on the rear wall. A low open shelving unit divides the dining space from the sitting area, keeping the room coherent without closing it off. Wide glass sliding doors on two walls give direct access to the pool terrace and face out toward the maquis. Louvre shutters on the east wall filter the morning light into horizontal strips across the concrete floor.

The Alta Rocca is one of the quieter parts of Corsica. The granite plateau around Zonza and Quenza is thirty minutes by road, with marked walking paths through chestnut forest that require no technical equipment. Bavella, with its granite needle formations above the tree line, is an hour away and worth half a day. The south coast beaches at Santa Giulia, Cala Rossa, and Palombaggia are forty minutes in the other direction, and Porto Vecchio is the nearest town for provisioning and restaurants.
