Villa Castagnetu draws its name from the Corsican word for chestnut, the tree that has shaped the culture, cuisine, and landscape of the island’s interior for thousands of years. The chestnut forests of central Corsica are ancient and immense, their green canopies covering hillsides that rise from the deep blue Mediterranean coast to peaks of considerable altitude. They provide shade, food, timber, and an entire culinary tradition, one that Villa Castagnetu embodies in its setting, its cooking, and its relationship with the island that surrounds it, and is available to book through The Luxury Rental.

Corsica occupies a unique position among Mediterranean islands. Wilder than Sardinia, more mountainous than Mallorca, and far less developed than the continental coast to the north, it retains a character that visitors who discover it tend to return to, often repeatedly and with an intensity of feeling that more celebrated destinations rarely inspire. Villa Castagnetu accommodates up to ten guests and provides a private base of real quality from which to explore this remarkable island on your own terms.

The villa has been designed with a deep understanding of how life unfolds in Corsica: the interior and the terrace exist in easy conversation, with the terrace providing the main setting for meals, relaxation, and the long hours of daylight that the Corsican summer provides with extraordinary generosity. A boat lift gives guests direct water access, opening up a coastline of staggering beauty: secret coves, underwater rock gardens, crystalline bays with depths of color that shift from turquoise to cobalt depending on the angle of the sun. Exploring this coast by water is one of the defining pleasures of any Corsican stay, and Villa Castagnetu makes it immediately possible.

Housekeeping and private chef services ensure that the domestic aspects of the stay are managed with complete professionalism. The Corsican larder is one of the most distinctive in France: the renowned charcuterie of the island, made from pigs raised in the mountain forests; brocciu, the fresh whey cheese unique to Corsica; the extraordinary fig confiture and chestnut honey that appear at every Corsican breakfast; and the wines of Patrimonio in the north and Figari in the south. A chef with access to these ingredients and to the fresh fish and seafood of the surrounding waters produces meals of real character and genuine pleasure.

The surrounding landscape offers an almost embarrassing abundance of activity: the gorges of the Restonica and the Spelunca for serious walkers, the beaches of Bonifacio and the south for swimmers and boat lovers, the mountain villages and ancient Genoese towers that appear on every ridge and headland, and the prehistoric standing stones of Filitosa, among the most significant archaeological sites in the western Mediterranean.

For families with children, Corsica is particularly rewarding: the island is safe, unhurried, and extraordinarily beautiful in a way that children respond to immediately and remember for years. Villa Castagnetu, with its direct water access and its private, well-equipped outdoor spaces, provides an ideal framework for a family Corsican adventure. The Luxury Rental is proud to offer it to guests who want Corsica as it should be experienced: privately, beautifully, and without compromise.
