Casa Papagallu sits on the southern coast of Corsica, its curved concrete form rising above a broad terrace of stone and grass that steps down to the pool below. The building follows a sweeping oval plan, clad in horizontal timber boards along the lower facade, with a projecting concrete canopy that runs the full circumference of the upper level. Beds of agapanthus line the retaining walls, their blue flowers standing out against the pale stonework through the summer months. Inside, the house is organized around a long central corridor that forms the spine of the building. Wide-format porcelain tiles run the full length of the floor, and the corridor walls are punctuated at intervals by deep recessed alcoves containing botanical wallpaper panels set directly into the plaster. The effect is layered rather than bare. Living and dining spaces open off this spine and face south and west, with floor-to-ceiling glass panels that bring the garden into the rooms.

The bedrooms are distributed around the perimeter of the curved plan, most with direct access to one of the terrace levels. Fittings and furniture are consistent in quality throughout the house, and the layout works well for groups who want shared space alongside adequate privacy.

The terrace levels give distinct places to use across the day. The canopy provides shade on the upper level through the morning. The pool deck is in full sun from around midday. The lower lawn holds the last of the evening light. The maquis is close enough that the air carries rosemary and cistus on still afternoons.
