Before you go
What guests ask us most before a stay in Camaruche.
Where is Camaruche on St Barts?
Camaruche is on the hills of the north-central part of St Barts, between Lorient and Vitet. It is residential and quiet, with villas set on the slope above Lorient bay. Saint-Jean is a few minutes away by car and Gustavia around ten to fifteen minutes.
What is the nearest beach to Camaruche?
Lorient is the nearest, a few minutes down the hill. Its eastern end has shallow pools behind the reef where young children can splash safely, and sea grape trees give shade in the morning. Surfers use the reef break at the other end. Grand Cul-de-Sac is also a short drive away.
Do we need a car in Camaruche?
Yes. St Barts has no public transport, and Camaruche is on a steep hillside. A hire car is the easiest way to reach Lorient, Saint-Jean, Gustavia and the rest of the island. Most guests choose a compact car, which suits the narrow lanes and makes parking at the beaches easier.
